Food

What’s it all about (Alfie?)

Local, seasonal produce, cooked simply. That’s the mission statement.

Lot’s of people may make that claim but few really get stuck in. We are really passionate about our food- We go direct to the farmers front gate for mutton & pigs whilst collecting our organically grown Shitake mushrooms from a local Community Supported Association some two miles away. Practicality dictates that not all our foods can come directly from the farms but we work closely with Farmers Fayre a local farmers conglomerate which ensures that much of our meat really is from a 30 mile radius. Our food is non pretentious and unfussy but cooked honestly and without cutting corners- meaning that you can have a classic pub meal that will be a sensible size and wont be stacked up like a tower and it absotively posolutely wont be drizzled on. (unless it’s raining)

Recent menus can be found just down there on the right or you can click Just show me what I can eat dammit!!

Hi Sam

I was wondering if it’s possible to put a marquee in the garden and organize a carvery/hog roast for a wedding. 100 people!!!It’s such a lovely place. Best Regards Jonna

I love this pub – we live in rugby & it’s our new favourite place to eat. You never fail to please, we’ve booked it for birthdays, Mother’s Day and I’m even booking it for my pre-wedding girlie meal! The fires, atmosphere, beers and especially the food all make this one of the nicest places to spend an evening!

I wont be, but my good lady, Liz, will be- she’s easier on the eye than I…

I can do better than that. Will visit tonight and make myself known to you, if you’re about.

Cheers,

Ralph

Can you do a table of 20? It will be one evening in the week perhaps a Thursday. Staff outing.

Thanks

hi,

we have booked a table for four on mothers day, we were just wondering about the roast lamb you serve, if we could not have it pink and just have it well cooked? thank you

Sam February 10, 2010 at 1:01 pm

Yes! we have a table by a fire that easily seats 12

Ralph Buckland February 10, 2010 at 11:51 am

Is it possible for you to do a large group (12) on one table?

Sam February 9, 2010 at 1:30 pm

Thinking of doing a looal walk to enjoy the lovely warwickshire countryside on the 14th Feb and then having a bite to eat afterwards in your place. Would I need to book as its valentines day ? Also will there be any changes to the menu for the same reason ?

Thanks

Hi there,
the menu changes daily- I update the website when I have a chance (lazy, I know!) there’s pasta already on there and there’s always Veggie fish & chips- I’ll put another menu on there when I get a chance!!
Cheers
Sam

Hi, Is this still the current menu or has it changed? Also its a bit light on vegetarian provision can you put something veggie on there for non fish eating veggies, perhaps pasta of some kind?

Thanks

Sam January 18, 2010 at 10:48 pm

No problem whatsoever!!

Is it possible to make provision for people who enjoy the Red Lion & would like to sample your Sunday roasts but prefer their meat to be well done?
I’m thinking of getting a group together on Sunday, 28th February.
